What`s the official status of Drops of God? Is it dropped entirely, or just on some prolonged hiatus waiting for a miracle to happen? And if so, was that due to poor sales, or the reason was entirely different (considering that not easily understandable jump to the latter volumes of the original manga)? Because truth to be told I cannot believe, that such acclaimed manga, praised by many reviewers and experts, would really sell less copies than some other, more "indie" titles in your portfolio.
Prolonged hiatus…maybe. We’ve covered this issue on this blog dozens of times. And it isn’t one I enjoy having to repeat, especially since we cannot discuss contracts with authors publicly. But ultimately we do not have the rights to publish more of this series at this time.
And you are right. While that series is not even close to being our best selling title. It has generally sold better than most of our indie titles. So sales, from my perspective, is not really the issue.
