Simple curiosity, but what are the chances of Knights of SIdonia getting a full-color release like Viz does to some of their titles? After receiving needed permision from Japanese licensors, do these editions have to be made in Japan before they can be made available for the West? I'm perfectly fine and comfortable with black & white and a few color-pages personally, but how do these kind of releases work in the first place? Thanks!
Yup, projects like these generally have to be done in Japan first. We are no longer in the old days of manga where licensees can do what they want to titles.
So all parties have to approve of such changes and someone needs to be commissioned to colorize the content. By the way we have some color manga too. But, right now I don’t see Sidonia in color. BW is pretty important to how that comic works, in my opinion.
