Merry Christmas to me, haha. Volume 4...
chicken-in-a-basket:
Merry Christmas to me, haha. Volume 4 finally arrived, and with it yet another untold chapter of the One Year War. I was amazed at how much fit into this section. They covered everything from Hamon’s kamikaze attack on the White Base, to Lt.Matilda and the Black Tri-Stars, to Char’s glorious return in the raid on Jaburo. And, despite this being easily 12-14 episodes of material, this volume STILL manages to find the time to add new details, like the interesting Zeon asshole General Garcia, the new pilot of the Adzam, Lt.Sleggar Law’s first appearance, this time piloting a spiffy new GM instead of a fighter plane, and a large chunk of more personable stuff, such as Hayato Kobayashi’s street fight against the Black Tri-Stars. It was incredible. It only took me around an hour to read it, but it felt so much longer. There are sections where nothing seems to happen. Just page after page of Yas drawing, no sound effects, no dialog. Just beautiful artwork and machinery and watercolors. The story is finally beginning to cook, the differences between the original TV series (and movies) finally making themselves apparent. I honestly cannot wait for the next volume. Thank you for making this Christmas incredible Vertical.
